The short version: Your swims, plans and settings stay on your phone. There is no account and we run no server that stores them. The Free plan shows ads; Pro shows none. Location is used only during an open-water swim you start, and only while the app is in use.
Swimtime Pal is made by Plantburgh Products LLC, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Questions: contact@plantburgh.com.
Your swimmer details, workouts, training plan progress, pace tests, personal bests and settings. They are stored only on this phone, in Swimtime Pal's private storage. There is no account and we never receive your swimming.
The Free plan shows ads. To show them, Swimtime Pal connects to the internet to fetch ad cards from our ad feed. That request carries what any web request does (your IP address and the app name) and nothing about your swimming. Tapping an ad opens the advertiser's site in your browser.
When Google AdMob ads are switched on for Free, Google may use your phone's advertising ID to show and measure ads, under Google's policies. Where the law asks for it, we ask for your consent first. You can reset or delete your advertising ID in Android settings.
Pro shows no ads and makes no internet requests of its own. Google Play handles your subscription.
Subscriptions are sold and billed by Google Play. Google tells the app which Swimtime Pal plan your Google account has. We never see your payment details.
If Android backup is on, Android may include Swimtime Pal's data in your Google account backup, under your Google settings. A backup file you save from Settings is yours to keep wherever you choose.
Your data leaves the phone only when you save a backup file, export a CSV or print a workout, and you choose where it goes.
If you allow notifications, Swimtime Pal shows timer controls on your lock screen while a swim runs and, if you turn them on, pool-day reminders. They are made on the phone; nothing is sent to us.
Voice commands are off until you turn them on. Then the microphone listens only after you tap the mic button, for one short phrase, using your phone's own on-device speech recognition. Nothing is recorded, stored or sent anywhere.
If you connect Health Connect, Swimtime Pal saves each swim there (time, distance, lengths). With Pro it can also read heart rate during your swims and swims other apps saved there. This stays on your phone. You can disconnect any time in Settings or in Health Connect.
Swimtime Pal asks for your location only when you start an open-water swim, and only while the app is in use. During that swim it reads GPS about every 5 seconds to measure your distance and draw your path on screen; a notification shows while it does. When you finish, only the distance and time are saved, on this phone. The path is not kept and no location is ever sent to us.
If you add a check-in contact, their name and phone number are saved on this phone. Before a swim, Swimtime Pal can open your own Messages app with a text ready (where you are swimming and when you plan to be back). You send it yourself; Swimtime Pal never sends or reads texts.
Trainer mode links your phone to a trainer's phone nearby, directly over Bluetooth and Wi-Fi (Google Nearby), with no internet and no accounts. You choose what the trainer sees (clock, reps, heart rate, notes); nothing else is shared, and the link ends with your swim. Nothing goes to us.
With the Wear OS app, the phone and your watch share the running timer and your button presses over your own Bluetooth connection. Nothing goes to us.
The home-screen widget shows this week's distance and your next swim. "Hey Google" and shortcuts only open Swimtime Pal; we receive nothing.
Settings > Privacy and data > Delete all my data erases everything Swimtime Pal saved on this phone, including your own sounds. Uninstalling the app also removes it. Swims already saved to Health Connect stay there until you delete them in Health Connect.
Swimtime Pal is not directed at children under 13.
