Flipline Privacy Policy
Effective 2026-07-26 · revised 2026-10-05
Flipline is an offline-first reselling companion. This policy is short because the app is built not to collect your data.
What we collect
We (the developer) receive nothing about you. Flipline has no accounts, no sign-up, no analytics of our own, and no server that receives your data. The free version shows ads (see Ads and affiliate links).
Google Play counts anything an app sends off the device as "collected", even when it goes straight to a third party. By that definition Flipline collects two things, only when you use the feature that needs them: photos you send for identification, and search terms (saved hunts, typed searches, barcodes, item titles and brands for a price or recall check). Both are described below.
Where your data lives
Everything you enter — inventory, purchases, sales, expenses, mileage, photos, API keys, AI spending totals — is stored in a local database on your device only. Backups exist only where you choose to share or save them.
Photos never carry your location
Your phone's camera may tag each photo with where it was taken. Flipline removes those tags (location and the rest of the camera details) from every photo before it leaves your device: to an AI provider, to Google Lens, or to eBay. The copy kept on your device is unchanged.
What leaves your device
Data leaves your device only when you trigger an action that calls a third-party service, using credentials you supplied:
- Deal sources, price and recall lookups (e.g. GSA Auctions, eBay, CJ, Best Buy, Walmart, Woot, Meh, Discogs, Scryfall, Open Library, Open Food Facts, UPCitemdb, the U.S. CPSC recall database): your search or refresh sends the query to that service. Your home location is used on the device to filter results and is not sent.
- Photo ID. You choose how a photo is identified:
- On this phone (Gemini Nano, where your phone supports it): the photo is read on the device and sent nowhere.
- Google Lens: you hand the photo to Google's Lens app yourself, and Google handles it under its own terms. Flipline sends nothing.
- A cloud AI you connected (Google Gemini, Anthropic Claude, or OpenRouter) under your own API key and that provider's terms. In lot mode, one photo becomes several requests: the whole photo, then close-up crops of it. Photos are never sent automatically.
- AI off: More → Scanner money → Use AI to identify photos off. No photo is sent to any AI.
- Gemini free tier: Google states it may use submitted content to improve its products, and human reviewers may read it. A paid Gemini key is not used that way.
- Anthropic Claude: Anthropic does not train on API content by default.
- OpenRouter passes the photo to the company that runs the model you reach. Flipline picks free models, and free models are often run by providers that log requests and may train on them. You can turn that off in your OpenRouter account's privacy settings.
- Posting a listing to eBay (optional, one tap per item): the title, description, price and photos you chose go to eBay under your own eBay sign-in. eBay hosts the photos publicly. Flipline keeps your eBay sign-in token in the device's secure storage and never sees your eBay password.
- Sharing: backups and CSV exports go wherever you share them.
Each third-party service processes those requests under its own privacy policy. Flipline adds no identifiers of its own to any request.
Two public files. To stay current without an update, the app downloads two public files from this website (hosted by GitHub Pages): a list of AI models and a table of AI prices. The request carries nothing about you. Like any website, the host sees your IP address.
Ads and affiliate links
The free version of Flipline shows banner ads served by Google AdMob. Google's SDK may collect your device's advertising ID and ad interactions under Google's privacy policy; you can reset or delete the advertising ID in Android settings, and a consent prompt is shown where your state's law requires one. Ads never see your inventory, prices, photos, or keys — those never leave the local database.
Some links to marketplaces are affiliate links. When one can earn us a commission, the app says so next to the link. It costs you nothing extra and changes nothing about the price you pay.
Data retention and deletion
We retain nothing, so there is nothing for us to delete. To erase all app data, use More → Erase all data in the app, or delete the app. Photos and searches already sent to an AI or search provider are that provider's to delete. To revoke an AI provider's access, disconnect it in the app and revoke the key with that provider.
Children
Flipline is a business tool for adults and is not directed at anyone under 18. Its photo identification runs on AI services that require users to be 18 or older.
Changes
If a future version ever changes what leaves the device, this policy and the in-app copy will be updated first, and the change will be opt-in.
